０５００６２９９　世界の民俗衣装、１１６１３９４９　世界のくらし⑧インドのくらし 『ファション辞典』文化出版局　1999.3　６２３ｐ　おもにヒンズー教徒の女性が着用する巻き衣型の衣服で、インドの代表的な服装。幅1.5ｍ、長さ5～8ｍほどの１枚の布で、まずペチコートをはき、丈の短いブラウス（→チョリ）を着た上から、サリーを腰から肩にかけて巻く。作業などにより微妙に異なる。素材は木綿、絹、化繊などさまざまある。
