石井宗謙は江戸時代後期の蘭方医で、1813年（文政6）長崎のオランダ商館医師に着任したシーボルトに師事した。岡山城下下之町（現在の表町二丁目）で1845年（弘化2）2月から1851年（嘉永4）9月まで開業。この時、シーボルトの遺児イネが宗謙のもとで産科を修行、宗謙との間にたか子（多賀子）をもうけたことで有名。
